Enclosure screening If radiation emitted by the elec- tronics or their susceptibility to external fields is a potential problem, moulded enclosures offer no inherent attenuation to the passage of electromagnetic fields. As a solution, Vero Technologies is offering internal coatings that pro- vide varying levels of attenuation. The 50-micron nickel coating provides attenuation of 50dB at 1GHz. The default coating is a 10- or 20-micron silver-coated copper

Cable glands for fast installation New from Hylec-APL

is the Kwik Fix cable gland. Designed for where access to the interior of a bulkhead or enclosure is restricted, this can be used to form a quick, IP68 connection.

The cable gland is installed by placing the mounting foot of the gland through the entry hole. The mounting foot is designed with a lip that can be pulled tight against the inner wall. An external hexag- onal locking nut is then turned anti-clockwise to hold the gland in

place and form an IP68 seal. Once locked in place the user can install the cable in the traditional manner, tightening the top dome nut in a clockwise direction. The cable gland, which is said to be especially suitable for use with switch cabinets and cooling and heating systems, can be fitted onto entries where the wall thickness is between 1mm and 4mm. The waterproof solu- tion can operate safely in temper- atures between –20˚C and 100˚C. Hylec-APL www.Hylec-APL.com T: 01933 234400

particle coating, which typically attenuates by 78dB at 10GHz. The highest attenuation is achieved using a 22.5-micron silver coating, which gives in excess of 80dB at 1.5GHz. It provides an effective shield against RFI and EMI and can act as a ground plane to protect against ESD. Vero Technologies www.verotl.com T: 01489 776933

OKW has developed a fast-action mounting device that clips into the cut-outs provided on the base or bottom lid of all its ‘ART-CASE’ models. The device is simply mounted to the wall, or surface, and the enclosure then snapped into place. A secure and discreet assembly is achieved with no visible fixing screws to prevent tampering. The ART-CASE series is available in four formats:

round, oval, square and rectangular shapes. All models can be configured with a series of three different base sections, two of which are inclined at 30˚ or 55˚. The other base section increases vertical height by 20mm. OKW

Explosion-proof bus-bar system

A new range of explosion-proof (Ex e) bus-bar systems has been launched by COOPER Crouse-Hinds for metal and moulded plastic enclosures. Suitable for use in hazardous environ- ments with ambient temperatures from

–55 to +55˚C, the GHG 758 system uses undrilled clamp technology for the connection of cabling, enabling faster, more cost effective assembly and more efficient distribution of electrical energy. The system is available in high rated currents for 250A and 315A in Ex e certified technology for Zone 1 hazardous areas and provides users with an increased length of usable bus-bar rail of up to 6300mm. It is suitable for use with the company's GHG 62 range of encapsulated circuit breakers up to 63A; and a 125A rated version will also be available later this year.
