UC in vogue says Cooper


THE UC market is gaining sig- nificant traction, according to Andrew Cooper, Sales Director at NEC, who cites a 100%-plus year-on-year hike in sales of the vendor’s UC applications as concrete proof of a market that’s hotting up.


“The increased uptake by end users demonstrates an increas- ing acceptance of the business value of UC and a greater will- ingness to invest in the technol- ogy,” commented Cooper. “However, UC is an industry term that means little or nothing to many end users.


“The important thing for a reseller is to consult with the customer, seek to understand their business pain points and show them the benefits of a fully integrated solution.” The most interesting feature


of NEC’s UCB application that catches the eye of customers and turns interest into sales is Rich Presence, noted Cooper. “This enables employees to save time when looking for a colleague and locate the best placed person to help them faster with real-time transpar- ency across an organisation,” he commented. “Rich Presence is intuitive to use, meaning that no training is necessary.”

The notion that productiv- ity applications are complicated has perhaps held the market back, suggests Cooper, but a practical first-hand view of fea- tures in action is often enough to dispel the myth, he says. “NEC resellers find that the power of demonstrations in the case of Rich Presence in particular has really helped the marketplace to warm to applica- tions,” commented Cooper. “We anticipate this trend to continue as more businesses see the benefits of fully integrat- ed communications solutions. Also, the increased capabilities of resellers to demonstrate the technology’s potential to boost productivity and save time will also drive the market for UC.”


Nimans webinars now update dealers monthly


NIMANS has launched month- ly systems webinars designed to provide resellers with an over- view of promotions and indus- try developments.


The first session took place in September and offered updates to Siemens Enterprise Communications, Panasonic and NEC resellers, spanning top- ics such as 0% finance, bundle offers and the latest products. Nimans’ Head of System Sales, Paul Burn, commented:


“Each brand had a separate 10 minute slot to provide custom- ers with an update.


“Feedback was positive with resellers appreciating the con- venience of gaining an informa- tive direct dose of news to their laptop or PC, from key person- nel at Nimans.”


In addition to the live month- ly webinars each session will be uploaded to the Nimans website so that they can be accessed around the clock.
