Jagex appoints new chief execs

JAGEX l The UK developer and publisher has announced two executive level appointments. DANIEL CLOUGH (far left) has been named chief operating officer. He first joined Jagex in 2002 and was the studio’s thirteenth employee. He has worked his way up from
customer support to managerial roles, before leaving in 2009. He returned in January as vice president of RuneScape. WENDY ROSENTHAL (above on right) joins as chief marketing officer. She has over fifteen years of experience with entertainment brands, having worked at Sony, Hyper Entertainment, Abbey Road Studios, Microsoft and Ferrari. “Daniel and Wendy bring a huge weight of experience to Jagex’s leadership team,” said CEO MARK GERHARD.

EA l ROB DAVEY (far left) is leaving the publisher’s UK team to become general manager for SANZA (South Africa, New Zealand and Australia). He will take up his new role on September 12th and will report to MARK BRADLEY. Davey will be replaced by JAMES
ROBINSON (above right), formerly a business unit controller for the publisher. Robinson will report to vice president and general manager for Northern Europe KEITH RAMSDALE. “I want to thank Rob for all of his hard work over the past five years,” said Ramsdale. “It has been a real pleasure working with him and I wish him every success in his new role within EA.”

IGN l The online giant has hired MIKE GOLDSTEIN as the first UK publisher for IGNsister site
AskMen.com. He joins from Catch 22 Magazine, and has previously held roles at Pretty Green and The Marketing Store. He will report to IGN Entertainment’s UK MD Ian Chambers. “With targets to drive AskMenforward, making it even bigger, better and more relevant for UK males in 2012, Mike was the ideal man to become our first ever publisher in the region,” said Chambers.

HMV l After several new appointments and the restructuring of the department, HMV has finalised its new-look technology buying team. EWAN PINDER leads the crew as head of technology. He joined the firm in March from Comet, and oversees eight people. PHIL BROWES joined in June, also from Comet, as category manager. Established HMV personnel ROB MASON, senior category buyer, and DEAN MILWARD, category buyer, will report to Browse. They will also work with assistant category buyers JONNY AUSTIN and ED LEE. Another department reporting to Pinder is Supply Chain, headed up by supply chain manager REBECCA HUNT. She will work with merchandise planners TILLY BOLTON and ANNA RAVET.
