Disinfection and Sterilization: Meeting the CDC Guidelines Each year in the United States there are approximately 46,500,000 surgical procedures and about 5 mil- lion gastrointestinal endoscopies. All invasive procedures involve contact by a medical device or surgical instrument with the patient’s sterile tissue or mucous membranes. A major risk of all such procedures is the introduction of infection. This webinar reviews recommendations to improve disinfection and sterilization practices in healthcare facilities to include endoscope reprocessing.
