Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Zero VAPs This presentation discusses interventions to assist hospitals to achieve zero cases of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). Modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors, along with nursing barriers to VAP prevention are reviewed. Evidence-based practice, current recommendations, and additional interventions will be dis- cussed. How collaboration between frontline care staff, managers, decision makers, physicians, pharmacists, physical therapists, families, dieticians, and infection prevention experts are crucial to achieving positive patient outcomes are described.
