A Pediatric System Focuses on Reducing HAIs and Learns that ZERO is a number!

Focusing on a “bundle of care” will not always correlate to zero healthcare-associated infections. However, this webinar presents the story of how a pediatric system is learning that ZERO is a number. In 2005, the system focused on the IHI bundles for BSI and VAP with a multidisciplinary team. Rates dropped, but did not reach zero. With a leadership-driven focus on phased hand hygiene in 2006 and 2008, rates dropped sig- nificantly. During this time, the CEO had a personal encounter with how devastating an HAI can be; without her support, further reductions would not have been possible.
