Amcol Minerals chooses Gough Engineering
An international speciality minerals producer requiring a conveyor system to move bentonite from a ground floor production area to the second floor has chosen a Gough Engineering Swinglink Bucket Elevator for the application. There was already a restricted amount of space available in an already crowded factory floor; therefore a bucket elevator was required to work around the current factory layout whilst being able to maintain high throughput levels. Together with engineers from Amcol Minerals Europe, Gough Engineering’s senior application engineers supplied a Swinglink Bucket Elevator for the duty with a throughput of up to 20 tonnes per hour. The 12m in height bucket elevator included stainless steel, heavy duty chain that run at speeds of 15m
per minute. The ‘one-in-one-out’ Z shape design is used as a simple means of vertically conveying product.
Other inclusions with the Swinglink included an anti run back fitting to maintain the security of the product when the bucket elevator is stopped for
production reasons. The unit also includes dust extraction spigots built into the casing to avoid any static build up in the elevator, and with a inspection door in the vertical leg of the elevator, the bucket elevator meets above and beyond the health and safety requirements. 24-hour service for geared motors from Siemens Mechanical Drives
Round-the-clock service for a
comprehensive range of geared motors and couplings has been introduced by Siemens Mechanical Drives, part of Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies.
After a recent factory relocation to Leeds in
West Yorkshire, Siemens Mechanical Drives is now offering 24-hour service facilities for the well-established and field proven Flender Motox range of geared motors in up to size
148, along with Flender couplings. Siemens service manager Gary Husband said the improved service had been welcomed by key customers, such as in the food and beverage industry, where a production line breakdown could mean expensive losses and where fast service turnaround was essential: “Being able to supply our Motox units to Siemens customers and partners in a range of sizes means we can provide a much improved out-of-hours service. We can build units to precise customer requirements through the night and at weekends if required for emergency requests.”
Most common gear unit sizes are covered under the new service scheme, from size 38 up to size 148. Geared motors can be inline, right-angled or shaft-mounted with torques of up to 10,000Nm.
