destinations as boastful as Dubai – its glitzy, glamorous and in constant development. The city’s newest icon, and the tallest building in the world, the 828 metre high Burj Khalifa, is impressive.
Shanghai
Singapore boasts shops, galleries, museums and colonial landmarks, such as its famous Raffl es Hotel. Its countless food stalls and sleek restaurants (which really buzz as the sun goes down) serve up its renowned mix of Malay, Indian and Chinese delights. Also nicknamed the ‘Garden City of the Far East’, there are many to enjoy; but two the Tiger Balm or the Chinese Gardens with its pretty Teahouse to name but two.
To experience progressive Kuala Lumpur, explore by foot. You’ll pass skyscrapers, bustling Hawker Stalls, historic mosques and its thriving Chinatown. Or make your way to the top of its soaring Petronas Towers, for a fantastic bird’s eye view.
The mysterious Middle East Rich in monetary wealth and culture, the Middle East is both mysterious and magnifi cent, as well as being a wonderful region to cruise around.

For a more traditional experience, you can enjoy the majestic architecture and stunning souks of nearby Sharjah. After dark you can watch the dhow (traditional wooden boat) weaving along the waterways.
Egypt is rife with sights and attractions telling the story of its fascinating ancient civilisations. The Pyramids at Giza are certainly the most obvious, and the most visited. But there’s a reason for this. They are truly spectacular. Their sheer size, scale and age will amaze you. Even the maelstrom of traffi c, mosques, palaces and bazaars that is Cairo will not distract you.
Another site of huge archaeological interest is Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, discovered from Safaga. Lying under the pyramid-shaped mountain of Al-Qurn, these ancient tombs (63 in total) were built for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of Ancient Egypt – a testimony to the cult of the afterlife. Most famous is the tomb of Tutankhamun.
And then there’s Israel, and the pretty city of Haifa. From here you can visit the Holy Land, which includes Jerusalem and Bethlehem, one of the holiest sites in the world for Judaism and Christianity, the Sea of Galilee and Nazareth before Aurora begins the fi nal stretch home across the Mediterranean Sea.
