Vibrations Cellulite blight

Skin texture is also a major concern for some clients, and even slim active women may find they suffer from cellulite. “For 90% of women cellulite is unavoidable,” says Emma Wilsdon, Training Development Manager for the Guinot TechniSpa. “In spite of physical exercise and proper eating habits, it is difficult to combat persistent cellulite. Therefore, women are continuously seeking new tactics for getting rid of localised bulges permanently, as well as of course general slimming.”

“Women are genetically programmed to store fat in localised areas and as women are unable to get rid of fat efficiently it tends to accumulate in the adipocytes (fat cells), which are located mainly under the skin of the buttocks and hips. During adolescence figure imperfections start to appear and with age or after pregnancy skin loses elasticity.”

Vibe-away!

Luckily there are now a number of systems available to tone, tighten and improve the texture of your clients’ problem areas. Vibration plates have been a big hit with celebrities in recent years, bringing them to the forefront of modern exercise alternatives.

Vibration plates operate by causing rapid muscle contractions that work the muscles continuously. The vibrations effectively give the same results as exercise, engaging the muscles in activity. This then helps to slow down the body’s degeneration, meaning the ageing process is slowed.

Toning tables

Toning tables are another alternative option for salons wanting to offer a toning treatment for their clients looking to firm up. “Toning Tables have proven their effectiveness by being one of the long stayers in the exercise equipment

world,” says Andrew Mackey of Slim Images. “Having gone through a boom time in the 1990s with salons opening up in the high streets across the country, they are still helping people tone up, increase flexibility and mobility.”

“Toning tables offer a series of passive exercise movements, making them ideal for clients who are starting from a low fitness baseline,” he adds.

required “A common concern for salon owners who are looking to introduce a piece of exercise equipment into their salon is space restrictions,” says Andrew.

“After the initial consultation and demonstration, clients are able to use them without any intervention from staff.”

This makes vibration systems an excellent addition to salons and Spas, with very little staff involvement freeing up therapists time for other treatments. It may also attract new clients to your salon who are looking specifi cally for a vibration system to use, and can also be marketed to existing clients as a little extra add-on option. You could suggest they have a ten-minute session while they wait for their treatment, or as an energising boost after their treatment is complete.

Targeted toning

There are also a selection of other systems available that can be used for targeted toning, including endermologie, microcurrent, electrical pulses and suction therapy. All of these therapies offer localised toning, allowing you to direct the treatment onto the problem area the client struggles with.

These are more hands on therapies that allow you to interact with your clients, which is ideal if they prefer a more personal experience. With these therapies you can alter your prices accordingly in relation to the time you spend on each treatment.

Take advantage of these different options and help your clients to feel fabulously firm!
