Playing to win


The cloud is a big challenge but also an opportunity for resellers as premises and gateway products move off site. There is an opportunity to add services to a business’ portfolio quickly and efficiently and sell-in consultancy and maintenance off the back of this. The dominant or more traditional players might not be the ones who are the winners in the cloud, believes MacSween. But with its five wholly owned data centres around the UK (in London, Glasgow,


Nottingham, Maidenhead and Leicester) providing mission- critical hosting 24/7, iomart is certain to be a winner in the new world. “I believe that the battle for the cloud will be won on service levels,” added MacSween. “We offer dedicated technical teams who are not only experts in the hardware but also in the software and development side of the business. These teams are in-house and offer round-the-clock services. They can spot and fix problems before customers are even aware of them.”

IOMART Group recently posted a rise in pre-tax profits of 618 per cent to £2.8 million for the year ending 31 March 2011. Revenue for the group was also up 38 per cent to £25.3 million from £18.3 million in 2010. The majority of growth came from the hosting operations which generated revenue of £17.7 million, a rise of 61 per cent from £11 million in 2010. Analysts are predicting that for 2011/2012 iomart will experience a sales growth of 20 per cent, with turnover reaching £32 million and a rise of approximately 60 per cent in pre-tax profits of £4.7 million.
