NEC aims for smaller fi rms
NEC Infrontia is targeting the small business market with what it claims to be its most reseller friendly communication server to date. The SL1100 has a scalable architecture and comes with a minimum configuration of four lines and eight extensions. According to Sales Director Andrew Cooper the system can be set-up and commissioned in as little as 60 minutes.
For mobile workers, a mobile phone can be designated as the answering terminal when users are away from the office. The system also offers access to mobile features such as caller ID, call transfer and voicemail. Cooper commented: “The
SL1100 is our most reseller friendly series so far. We’ve ensured that set-up and com- missioning time can be brought down to an hour. The system also allows automatic standby mode during office closing hours, pro- viding energy efficiency to ben- efit the user, while contributing to a healthier world.”

Digium delivers FMC with latest Switchvox
DIGIUM has lifted the lid on Switchvox 5.0, the latest ver- sion that introduces FMC and further integration with third party business applications into the Switchvox UC solution. The new release also allows end users to integrate any type of phone with Switchvox. They can select up to six phones of any type, including VoIP, digi- tal, analogue, smartphone or a soft phone, to converge with their Switchvox extension. Switchvox 5.0 is based on Asterisk, the well known open source communications engine, and includes more application programming interfaces (APIs) for greater customisation and
integration with third party business apps, giving business- es the ability to leverage other IT investments such as CRM, customer support, accounting and ERP systems.
Switchvox 5.0 also features an enhanced user interface, more detailed reporting for calls and call queues, and detailed online support – all included in each Switchvox SMB unified communications system. “Mobile and remote workers need to be just as productive outside of the office as they are inside, seamlessly moving between the two,” said Tristan Barnum, Product Line Director for Switchvox at Digium.
