STUDYING FROM YOUR HOME, IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE DIPLOMA IN DANCE TEACHING STUDIES
The Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies is a new international distance learning programme that is currently in development and planned for release in 2013/14.
CONTENT The Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies is being designed to fulfill the growing demand from dance teachers who are looking to gain a Level 5 professional award. The programme will be of interest to students who have previously studied the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies, or a similar Level 4 qualification and teachers with the equivalent in relevant professional experience.
The programme will give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in dance teaching, whatever the genre or educational context. Students may either choose to pursue their current dance specialism or use the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and widen their employment and career opportunities.
DELIVERY This programme will be part-time, enabling students to study alongside personal and professional commitments. The programme will start in January of each year and will be delivered over two years. As a part-time student, you would expect to study for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Students may be required to attend an Intensive Study Period or practical workshop, depending on the choice of module options. This is usually held in the country of residence. All modules are supported by Module Study Guides and students are allocated a tutor for each module, with whom they will have regular contact by telephone, email or fax.
COUNTRY AND LANGUAGE OF DELIVERY It is likely that the programme will be delivered in the following teaching centres: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and the USA. It is sometimes possible for students from other countries to study at one of these centres; however, in any given year, the programme will only run in a specific country if there are sufficient numbers.
The programme will be delivered in the first language of the teaching centre country. If more than one language is spoken, the RAD retains the right to determine the language of delivery. Please note that if the language of delivery is not your first language, it is your responsibility to ensure you are able to read, write and speak proficiently in that language.
AWARD Successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies and eligibility for registration as a teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance.
