STUDENT PROFILES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN RAD STUDENT
2.00PM After lunch it is back to work again. We have weekly Group Tutorials when the whole class meets with the Level Coordinator. Sometimes Group Tutorials are quite informal when information is given out about different events. Other times we will focus on specific aspects of our studies, such as study skills or group presentations. Each year group elects a Student Representative who provides a vital link between students and staff.
Student Representatives attend programme meetings to discuss any issues that concern students. Sometimes there is a need for individual tutorials and these are easily arranged with the tutors. Individual tutorials have been especially helpful for me as the personal focus makes it possible to understand things I have found difficult.
4.00PM Classes normally finish at 4.00pm but being a student at the RAD means a lot of hard work, so normally I go to the library or the computer room to work on assignments before heading home. Often there will be other students around which means you can work with others and discuss what has happened during the day. Each day at the RAD is different. You have to be prepared to work hard but there is also a lot of fun and friendship. I always look forward to going back!
6.00PM After a busy day, I often head straight home for some rest and relaxation. I live in a shared house with other students from my home country, Norway, so I also have a good social life with people outside my studies. Leisure time in London is great as there are so many things to do! There are many sport and dance centres, such as Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, which have drop in classes. I go to outside dance and fitness classes whenever I can. The shopping is also great (if I have money), and going out with friends on the weekends is always lots of fun. Now I can’t wait for spring and nice weather so that I can spend time in all the lovely parks around London, running, reading and eating ice cream.
What I like best about living in London is having such a great choice of dance performances and theatre. If you are not too picky about where you sit you can get to see world class performances quite cheaply. One thing is for sure, you will never be bored in a city like London!
