Portland Wooden Boat Festival July 10
Portland's Wooden Boat Festival is
the only chance this summer to explore classic wooden boats, see new wooden boats in the making, and learn about the Willamette and Columbia Rivers’ rich maritime heritage - all in one place. Activities include: beautiful antique
and classic wooden boats from the area will be on display; ten families will launch row boats that they constructed in one weekend; and kids and adults can make their own piece of history through activities such as model boat building, rope making and flag design. There will also be live music, food, a beer garden, and sailing demonstrations. From noon–6:00 pm at Willamette

Commencement Bay Maritime Fest August 27
The Quick & Dirty Boat Building is
a contest held at the Tacoma Maritime Fest. Ten to twelve 3-person teams are pitted against each other to build a boat out of a limited amount of materials in six hours. After that they must race the boat around a course set in Commencement Bay. There are lots of awards and the winning team gets their name on a trophy and their boat displayed for a year in the Maritime Museum. This year the bagpipers will return
to lead us down to the beach and we will of course have a new mystery material to supply you with. Also, just to make it more interesting, this year all three members of the team will need to be in the boat for the race. For more information contact Joe

Victoria Classic Boat Festival
September 2-4 The Victoria Classic Boat festival
is very pleased to announce a renewed sponsorship relationship with Canoe Cove Marina and Boatyard of Sidney, BC. One of Victoria's longest running festivals - entering it's 34th year - takes place over the Labour Day weekend and will attract more than 100 classic boats from Canada and the US. This year the "Open Boat Festival" which features small craft such as traditional canoes, kayaks, and open boats will re- locate from Brentwood Bay to the Inner Harbour to join forces with the Classic Boat Festival. This family friendly, free festival
