KCOM ADVERTORIAL

Future-proofi ng network delivery for Platform Operators

Kcom believes Platform Operators with their own switching or application platforms could be one step ahead. The options available for you to access your customers are diverse and dynamic, and are fast changing in the face of 21CN. Success is then driven by your ability to adapt to the challenges of the marketplace.

What are the challenges?

Many factors including fluctuations in costs, business expansion needs and changing customer expectations leave Platform Operators facing tough decisions.

You aspire to grow and differentiate yourselves in the marketplace but to do that you need to continually invest in your platforms to meet customer demands. You also want to be able to service large customer applications without leaving the capacity idle when it’s not in use. In short, it’s a balancing act between capex and spend and the type of business it allows you to secure.

Further distractions and costs such as management, regulatory issues surrounding interconnects and number management all contribute to ‘drag’ factors which undermine what you set out to do in the first place.

Is outsourcing an option?

Of course, you could also outsource and purchase services provided by another operator. The downside, however is that the propositions are

limited to that of your supplier and if these don’t fit your requirements you’re restricted and unable to differentiate.

However, that said, we understand for the reasons mentioned above and various other factors that it could, without doubt be more compelling to maintain your infrastructure, leaving you with the challenge of continually searching for ways to maximise capacity and efficiency within your network.

What are the other options?

At Kcom, we aim to offer the best scenario for Partners, which is removing the need for onerous network interconnect agreements whilst retaining all the switching and development control that comes from being a Platform Operator, all underpinned by a Tier 1 network.

We support our Channel Partners by designing a range of carrier connectivity solutions to deliver traffic to your switch/application environment, either via SIP or TDM. This enables you to focus on delivering customer-driven solutions

without the distractions of complex interconnects and Ofcom regulations.

We have also developed multiple API-driven services aimed at giving Channel Partners direct access into Kcom’s network infrastructure, including inbound services. This allows operators to further integrate their platforms, or indeed free up capacity by effectively load balancing traffic between their own and Kcom’s networks.

Examples

Mediahawk, a leading marketing and call tracking provider wanted

to continue developing its own niche propositions on its own switches, without becoming side tracked by the distractions and costs associated with managing numbering and SIP or TDM transit. Mediahawk chose to partner with Kcom due to our excellent service and reliability and the fact that we could deal with these distractions.

One of our customers using an API-based solution is Windsor Telecom, a key player in the UK telecoms market. Windsor uses Kcom’s call management platform, Myriad to set up and change inbound telephony services (e.g. call

routing, voicemail and call queuing) on its customers’ behalf, all in real time. This has positioned Windsor as a highly flexible provider, able to offer bespoke solutions to its broad range of customers.

The Kcom proposition is simple; we aim to work with Channel Partners to compliment and strengthen their capabilities without the need to lose any of the commercial or functional benefits they currently enjoy.
