SPECIAL REPORT ndaries of UC, says Gamma

24/7 support, giving resellers the confidence to sell. Bligh added: “One of the issues for the channel in delivering hosted services has been that there are so many components from differing suppliers that make up a solution, leading to a minefield of different organisations with different processes to tie the service together, or to speak to when trying to resolve any issues. Horizon addresses this inherent problem by providing a complete end- to-end single solution from the handsets to the access to the core network, where there is only one throat to choke and resellers won’t get caught in the middle.”

Access matters According to Bligh, Gamma has also addressed the other main area of contention when implementing a successful hosted service – the access. “Now that we have our own data network over which we have full control, we’ve been able to remove a lot of groundwork that is required by resellers when getting the access

service in place. Our channel partners are able to offer assured access levels of service to a specified set of SLAs,” Bligh added.

As well as providing a fully featured PBX replacement service, Horizon also gives resellers the opportunity to provide clever integrated fixed/mobile solutions to businesses. Users can have ‘one number anywhere’ ensuring calls are never missed. “There’s the ability to flip calls between fixed or mobile devices, and significantly resellers are able to provide a service where businesses don’t need to be concerned about the cost of calls no matter what device they are using,” commented Bligh. “This is achieved through competitive on net rates via Gamma’s MVNA agreement with Vodafone.”

Horizon has a long-term roadmap that includes adding other UC functions. Later this year a mobile client will be available that interacts deeper with Horizon, enabling more tightly integrated PBX functionality from smart

phones. “Longer-term the roadmap for Horizon includes Unified Messaging integration and further enhancing the presence capabilities for users,” added Bligh. “Horizon is bringing a new dawn of capabilities

to the channel and we’re really excited about how this service will empower our partners to deliver more tightly integrated solutions to the SME market, with the ultimate goal of making their customers stickier.”
