In this world-class facility, SCAD fibers students develop a multidisciplined approach to thinking, making and problem-solving through extensive engagement with materials, technologies and methodologies. They gain practical experience through wide-ranging opportunities for exhibition, competition and collaboration locally, nationally and internationally. Students regularly participate and earn awards in competitions such as SURTEX, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and the International Textile Market Association.
The department hosts numerous visiting artists and designers such as Matilda McQuaid, Rowland Ricketts, Marypaul Yates, Denyse Schmidt and Natalie “Alabama” Chanin.
