The fibers department provides students with access to cutting-edge tools and equipment, like a state-of-the-art digital textile printer as well as an electronic Jacquard loom.


as an independent artist, M.F.A. fibers student Katie Glusica received the “Best of Show” award. She will also show at the Smithsonian Craft Show and in the exhibit “The Loom: on around & through” at the Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston, which will also feature fibers artists Mike Andrews, Christy Matson, Abigail Anne Newbold, Chimani Ricketts and Cynthia Schira.


B.F.A. fibers student Keia Barua was selected by a prestigious panel of judges as one of four winners of designext. Hosted by SURTEX, the annual student design competition receives entries from schools around the globe. The winners earn a trip to New York City to have their portfolios professionally critiqued and to display their work at the dynamic SURTEX show, which attracts more than 6,000 attendees from across the U.S. and 40 countries.
