Formula Fusion Karting Championship off to fast start at Thruxton

The Formula Fusion Karting Championship sped off from the start line with its first regional qualifier at the Thruxton Kart Circuit. After a series of warm up and qualifying laps the final was a closely fought affair resulting in first place going to Kevin Kilroy, second place to Andrew Chapple, third place to Chris Sankey, fourth place to Ali Al-Tek, and fifth place to Jason Stirzaker. Pete Rothy, marketing manager of Mills, said, ‘We’re very pleased with this first event, we had a great turn out, great weather and a great day’s racing. As the drivers progressed through the practice session, qualifiers and into the final it was clear that their competitive spirit and confidence had accelerated forward at a great speed resulting in an exciting battle for a space on the podium and a place in the Grand Final event.’ Louise Long, Redstone, said, ‘It was a great day which everybody enjoyed. Fusion were excellent hosts, they couldn’t have been more helpful and ensured we had a great time. Excellent racing, fantastic facilities and extremely fun!’

Next stop on the schedule is Teeside Karting in Middlesbrough on 10th June. Featuring an extended circuit of 2.1km length, it’s the longest, fastest kart circuit in the world.

Registration is still open for this event so register your interest for the opportunity to compete for free at Teeside or at any of the other regional qualifiers at www.fusiondatacom.com.

The top five drivers will earn themselves a spot at the Grand Final Grand Prix race at Rye House on 16th September and the chance to win a Fantastic 5 Supercar driving experience at Goodwood.
