Ribby Hall Holiday Village
PEI-Delta is a Poulton-Le-Fylde based contractor, but its presence is very much nationwide. PEI-Delta has been working with Ribby Hall for over a decade. The relationship between Ribby Hall and PEI-Delta is supported by a permanent on site team carrying out planned and reactive maintenance along with new projects from design through to completion. When the decision was made to extend the existing hotel, adding a luxury spa and a further 26 bedrooms, PEI-Delta was chosen to deliver the electrical aspect of the development, integrating the existing hotel with the new facility.
World renowned designers
The opening of the Spa Hotel will place Ribby Hall as one of the leading leisure facilities in the country, promising to bring an unrivalled spa destination and hotel to the north west. The interior has been designed by Malcolm King whose company, IDP, are world renowned designers. Their work includes The Plaza New York, Westin Raffles City in Singapore, Mango Bay Hotel in Barbados, MGM Hotel Casino in Las Vegas and most recently The Savoy in London. Hannah continues, ‘PEI-Delta has chosen Marco’s steel wire cable tray as their containment system, using three trays to run simultaneously, containing lighting and power, low voltage cables and mechanical data. All existing electrical wiring has been re-routed and integrated with the new building, eventually to be housed in an external plant room to the rear of the hotel.
‘PEI-Delta has specified Marco’s steel wire cable tray at a depth of 55mm, with widths varying from 100 to 500mm. Several hundred lengths of various sizes were installed to support the Category 6 data, security and fire alarm cables. Marco steel wire cable tray is light in weight, enabling bends to be easily fabricated on site. The design makes installation quick and convenient, thereby reducing on site costs. ‘A number of Marco ‘quick fit’ accessories are being used to support the installation along with quick couplers to join the lengths whilst quick locks are being used to speed installation on sweeping bends, alongside the Marco fast fix strut clip to secure the whole installation. It was great to hear from the team on site that they were using the Marco technical installation guides in our brochures to understand how to achieve specific bends and how to get the best
from the accessories. The guys on site showed little reluctance to move away from traditional methods onto our quick fit accessories.’
Quality and strength Neil Huckerby, projects director at PEI- Delta, says, ‘We have worked with Marco on several projects now and have found their products to be high in quality and strength, yet versatile enough to achieve the flexibility that we need. ‘The accessories are designed to speed up the installation process and Marco continues to introduce new innovations as part of their R & D department. They are a reliable company and are keen to understand our needs in terms of timescales and specification. Their steel wire cable tray system is ideal for this project and is supporting us in meeting our project timescales through a simple and easy installation.’ Under the electrical package a full LED lighting system has been implemented, a trend that PEI-Delta is introducing, due to the ever increasing utility costs. Each room will be fitted with its own media hub, incorporating Internet and media access, along with building management systems in order to monitor and maximise efficiency.
PEI-Delta is working on a number of exciting new projects in 2011 including Blackpool Pleasure Beach and a number of JD Wetherspoons. The company also forms part of several contract teams carrying out work directly for leading hotels and retail clients including Premier Inn, Zara, Mango and Louis Vuitton.
Welcome boost
Ribby Hall Village aims to become the north west luxury spa destination, adding a welcome boost to Lancashire’s leisure tourism sector. As well as creating an exclusive adult only spa destination in the north west, the Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village will also provide a much needed boost to the local and regional visitor economy. The scheme will create 70 new jobs (the majority of which are for local people) and will complement the existing and extensive family friendly facilities at Ribby Hall Village. Paul Harrison, managing director at Ribby Hall Village, says, ‘We have created The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village in response to consumer demand for a new north west luxury spa destination. ‘This will be a valuable addition to Lancashire’s leisure tourism offering, while providing local people who are keen to invest in their personal well-being, a

high end, yet affordable, day spa facility where they can be assured of superlative customer service.’
The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village will offer one of the most extensive collections of treatments, physical therapies and wellbeing services in the UK, some of which will be UK firsts. In addition to the spa facilities, which include 14 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy and thermal journey and one of the UK’s largest wet areas, there will be a brasserie and bar, gym and 42 bedrooms, including three penthouses and 12 suites. Paul Harrison concludes, ‘This latest development is an integral element to our overarching vision for Ribby Hall Village as one of the UK’s best independent short break, spa and business tourism destinations.’
