The three new Volvo EC140C’s line up at the company’s headquarters near Twycross

P.A.Wright & Sons More Volvo’s for

P.A.Wright & Sons Limited of Twycross, near Atherstone,

Warwickshire has added three new Volvo EC140C excavators and two Volvo loading shovels to its plant fleet as a result of a recent additional contract

awarded to them by Severn Trent Water Authority.

Established in 1955 by founder

Peter Wright, P. A. Wright & Sons Limited has evolved into a specialized contracting company handling and recycling

bio solids both in liquid and cake form for a large percentage of the sewage treatment works operated under the auspices of the Severn Trent Water Authority.

The company has been operating Volvo loading shovels and excavators for the past eight years with positive results so when a recent additional contract was awarded which required extra machines the natural choice was to opt once again for Volvo products, according to Director Tony Wright.

The new additions to the fleet include three Volvo EC140C excavators together with a Volvo L70F and L120F loading shovels. “The shovels are deployed at the treatment works in both load and carry operations and loading out material into bulk tippers for onward recycling,” ex- plained Tony Wright. “We use the excavators to stockpile material at the receiving end of the cycle before it’s spread on fields as organic fertil- izer.” In order to minimize damage to farmers’ fields in the spreading operation the excavators have specially modified buckets with an increase in capacity and a rounded bar on the leading edge of the bucket lip.

In total the company will handle in the region of 500,000 tonnes of bio solids per annum covering a geographical area from the Humber, south through the east and west Midlands as far as the Gloucestershire border. In addition to its fleet of predominantly Volvo construction equipment products, P.A.Wright & Sons Ltd operates a fleet of up to 45 road going tankers, bulk tippers and low loaders for moving the machines from site to site. Employing 100 personnel P.A.Wright & Sons Ltd has over 40 years experience as farmers, recycling and haulage contractors as well as services within the domestic and environmental industry.

This recent package of machines will be serviced and maintained by Volvo service engineers under Volvo’s Blue Customer Support agreements offering the care and peace of mind P.A. Wright & Sons Ltd is looking for. All the machines are fitted with CareTrack advanced telematics systems providing on going live machine data and systems status. Especially relevant and useful to Tony Wright is the ability to carry out spot checks on each individual machine’s fuel levels, particularly on the excavators that are vulnerable to fuel theft and vandalism whilst on remote farm land.
