ey West is a place like no other and that goes for fashion too. Whether visiting or a long-time resident, Key West can present some unique fashion opportunities. A lot of the traditional fashion rules,
formal dress guidelines and basic style strategies are best left up North. But just because you are relaxing on an island doesn’t mean all sense of style has to slip away. Here
looking fashionable enough to grace a magazine page or maybe your next holiday card.
uComfort first!
You are on vacation so of course you want to relax. You won’t find too many ties or chances to wear them in Key West. Most events are Key West Casual so throw on a polo shirt or light weight button down but don’t tuck in your shirt gentlemen and ladies a simple sundress can satisfy most occasions.
vConsider this!
Tink about what you will be doing. Key West is an active island; from days at the beach, bike rides around the island and lots of water adventures there is no need to sit still and every reason to kick back and relax. Let your clothes be as versatile and transitional as your day. When picking outfits choose clothes that will allow you to jump on a bike while also getting you to an impromptu happy hour.
wBreak it in!
Break in your shoes before they break you in. Tis Island Shoe Girl loves a heel and rarely turns down a new pair. But before you go out dancing or just walking around the island break in those shoes letting your toes and heels toughen up a bit first. Even the most comfortable soles can cause blisters, especially when strolling on a hot day. Don’t let sore feet sideline your fun; of course if they do you can take an emergency break with a frozen drink and a little Band-Aid repair.
xScreen the sun!
STEPHANIE KAPLE TALK SHOW HOST
A squirt of sunscreen is worth a week without a sunburn. Who doesn’t want a little sun kiss on their skin? Especially if you are going back home to snow and gray skies. But there is nothing worse than a blistering sunburn to ruin a trip fast. Even if you are not out at the beach, by the pool or enjoying the water you still will be picking up the sun’s rays. Make sure that Sunscreen is in your bag and on your skin. Go home with healthy glow and a few beachside pictures to make your friends jealous.
