n Bill Spottswood| Continued We responded with an idea of trying to get the TDC [Monroe County Tourist Development Council] dollars to build the entire project because in the 202 document they had said that they would use general fund dollars to try and build the park and possibly issue in rev- enue bonds to pay for the construction of the park, which was estimated at about $26 mil- lion in 2002. We thought that the Florida statutes should provide for the use of the TDC dollars generated in your community to build bricks and more items and it would be city owned. Tat is how Orlando built their con- vention centers and how Ft. Lauderdale built their aquatic centers. But for whatever reasons, the [Monroe] County Commission decided that they did not even want to ask the Attorney General for an opinion regarding our proposal. A result of that was going forth with Article B
