GENERALI’S INNOVATION NEWSLETTER Wealth Protection Policy

The success story continues By Rolf Dockhorn, AachenMünchener and Silke Stegemann, Generali Germany

‘A non-life product that is convenient for both sales agents and customers.’ This was the goal of AachenMünchener back in 2005 when it was considering new product development.

The result was the Wealth Protection Policy, first launched in November 2005, a first class non-life insurance bundle product, consisting of four or more policies.

The product was designed to be convenient for the sales agent and AachenMünchener as they can adopt a one-stop-selling approach – one product covers everything and expirations of old policies are automatically included in the new product.

Most important of all, it was also convenient for the customer to renew all their insurance covers in the one policy instead of having a number of different contracts.

The Wealth Protection Policy provides protection against the vast majority of frequent risks, including personal liability, household contents, household glass, accident, building and legal expenses. Recognising that the customer’s policies will not all have the same renewal dates, a special ‘gap cover’ for all insurance types was introduced. This allows the customer to have cover with the Wealth Protection Policy for a line of business they already are insured for with another company. During the period their old contract is still running, the customer only pays a small premium for the Wealth Protection Policy but benefits from top service and levels of cover. When the old policy expires, the full cover is automatically included in the Wealth Protection Policy.
