GENERALI’S INNOVATION NEWSLETTER

Essentially, GW needed to web-enable the existing core system, LISSIA, via a web portal so that inefficient Excel spreadsheets could be replaced with a productive, reliable system allowing all of the pricing underwriting team (regardless of department location) to have access to the same information. While the solution was clear, the implementation was problematic. After a lengthy period of negotiation with LISS (the core system provider), alternative service providers were investigated that could not only offer the same basic functionality but could also include data/document management and workflow. Welcome OpenText.

OpenText’s tagline reads: “Claim, control and conquer content chaos” – exactly what GW was looking for. Although you may not be familiar with OpenText, you most certainly are familiar with Yahoo!, which is just one of the search engines built by OpenText.

By giving its users the capability of managing data in a secure, controlled and user-friendly format, OpenText was the logical choice to move GW forward.

The functionality offered by the OpenText platform will transform the pricing underwriting process as it currently stands, bringing a number of benefits to GW, including cost and time savings in the administration of GW products, enhanced productivity and a more pleasant work experience for staff.
