Pioneer Electronics At the 2011 International CES Pio-
neer Electronics introduced the Aha Radio Mobile App with its new AVIC receivers,
which provides text-to-
speech features, and via an iPhone connected to the company’s new AVIC systems, users can listen to traffic reports, hear Facebook and Twitter updates, access podcasts and con- duct voice-based searches via the app’s other services, including real- time local search results. Aha Radio offers over 100 content and podcast stations that a user can access and control directly on the touch-screen display of Pioneer’s two new AVIC receivers, the AVIC-Z130BT and AVIC- X930BT. CLARION Clarion’s big move in the head unit space was to include HD
Radio as part of the standard tuning package. Te company also showed a whole new offering of navigation units and new larger double-DIN radios to further embrace the multimedia experience in the vehicle. A new, easy to install camera and display system wraps up the offerings.
DICE ELECTRONICS Te Silverline DUO lineup of products were at the forefront
of Dice’s 16 new products. Tis integration line allows for bet- ter iPhone and iPod integration all with the addition of Sirius Satellite Radio.
DIRECTED Directed further enhanced its app-driven product line by
adding a GPS module to the vehicle side of the company’s se- curity offerings, and integration with a home security system.
DUAL While not a product per see Dual introduced Ed Sachs as
the President of the Sales Division of Dual Electronics. But the company also introduced its new Axxera line of audio gear, which should be shipping before the summer selling season.
ISIMPLE iSimple’s hot intro was the iSimple TranzIt Blu, which allows for
a Bluetooth connection in order to play audio through a vehicle’s audio system. Not only does this allow for cleaner installations, but more options with a variety of devices.
KENWOOD Kenwood introduced a plethora of new products. Head
units in the multimedia realm were at the forefront as well as speakers, amplifiers and subwoofers. Te KDC-X995 was shown and has a good two paragraphs of features including iPod control and Pandora Internet Radio.
LYNX Crimestopper introduced its new line of audio products
called Lynx, which are subwoofer/amp combinations offering an all-in-one design.
METRA While there are a lot of apps in the smartphone world that
folks in the mobile electronics world use, the newest one from Metra could be a useful tool for salespeople and installers alike. Among other products Metra introduced the ASWCSTALK, the newest addition to its Axxess steering wheel control solu- tions, for vehicles that do not have steering wheel controls as a factory included item.

The SmartCradle has what Pioneer calls App Mode, which a user can only access when a vehicle is in park and its hand brake is fully engaged. App Mode and Pandora Internet radio
are available on the new AVH-P3300BT, AVH-P4300DVD and AVH-P6300BT au- dio/video

(USA) Inc. also announced that nine of its 2011 automotive in-dash products offer full Pandora streaming and control through an iPhone. Pandora integration is a feature on two CD players, three A/V units, two digital media players and two navigation systems; with suggested prices starting at $150.
