NEWS & TRENDS JVC Mobile

A JVC representative said the company’s main focus in its mobile division was to provide better smartphone integration across its range of CD and navigation receiver units. The com- pany added Pandora integration on four models, the KD-R720, KD-R820BT, and JVC Arsenal KD-A725 and KD-A925BT. On the company’s new navigation

units, the KW-NT30HD and KW-NT50H- DT, the company offers Clear Channel Radio’s iheartradio mobile application integration to consumers. After being downloaded to an iPhone, the iheart- radio application can be used via USB connection on these units. Once con- nected, users will be able to view song and artist information, album artwork and control channel up or down functions from the navigation unit or the iPhone itself. JVC Mobile Entertainment’s navigation units will in- clude a free lifetime subscription to the Total Traffic HD+ Network with purchase, which gives consumers on-screen access to data services such as traffic information, news,

sports scores and weather information. One major new feature in four of the company’s new A/V units (the KW- AVX640, KW-AVX740, KW-ADV794 and KW-AVX840) is the use of MotionX-GPS Drive Navigation, an iPhone navigation app that can be displayed on a head unit’s screen. For a vehicle owner to use this func- tion, they need to install the MotionX GPS-Drive app on their iPhone. The company said the app it- self costs 99 cents and $2.99 a month to receive updates (or $20 per year). The company also expanded built-in HD Radio functionality to six receivers, the KD-HDR44, KD- HDR70, Arsenal KD-AHD79, and the double-DIN KW-HDR720, and the KW-NT30HD and KW-NT50H- DT navigation receivers.

In its auto sound product lineup, JVC reintroduced its

lineup of amps, subs and speakers in the company’s new Driven line. The products in this line are designed to work together, were designed jointly and are cosmetically similar, according to JVC.
