NIKKI Freeman has joined Nine Club as Business Development Manager with responsibility for resellers based in the North. Nine Club Sales Director Mike

Parker commented: “We’re pleased to secure Nikki’s services. I am confident that she will prove a real asset to our business and to the resellers that she will be supporting.”

AS CHRISTMAS approached and the tradition of drawing up a list of which customers and suppliers should get the luxury hampers, PSU decided to break with convention for the second year running. “Instead of contributing to those post-Christmas hangovers we decided to make a £1,000 donation to a local charity that I have a particular affinity with, the Cheltenham Animal Shelter,” commented PSU Managing Director Mick Lounton (pictured above). “Christmas sees many of Gloucestershire’s unwanted seasonal pets become the problem of the Cheltenham Animal Shelter and similar shelters across the UK,” added Lounton. “As a charity, the shelter relies on generous public support to help it look after the 1,500 dogs, cats and small animals which pass through its doors each year.”

JOBWATCH

THE days of recruitment agencies that act just as ‘CV Shifters’ are well and truly over. Universal email and jobsites have created a marketplace overwhelmed by job applications and confusion. Add increasing employment and tax legislation, plus new working practices and the world becomes far more complicated than when I joined the industry. Employers need more support, and this is a golden opportunity for recruiters to raise their game, get more involved and strengthen their client relationships.

For example, we entered the contractor/temporary market so that our clients can hire skills for a project, without over committing salary overheads. Contractors can supply current and meaningful references that actually count for something, making hiring decisions stronger. Another area is employment advice. Most resellers do not have a formal HR professional to

help with good practice, disputes and disciplinaries. We have recently been joined by a senior CIPD consultant, Louise Mosely, previously with Motorola and Racal Datacom. She provides our clients and selected candidates with an HR Helpdesk Service free of charge.

The point of this is to do more for our clients, become more than people finders and add value. My advice to hirers is to think about what they want from a recruiter. Recruiters need to do more! Clive Jefferys, Managing Director, JMA Network

Daisy in Real Deal auction

DAISY staged a Dickinson’s Real Deal style auction last month giving away prizes worth a total of £10,000. Head of Internal Sales, Mark Lamonby, took on the persona of David Dickinson auctioning off more than 200 prizes ranging from a quad bike to festive chocolate treats. The auction was a culmination of sales activity over three months during which time all commissions earned were totting up as Daisy Dollars. The quad bike was won by Jason Lanns for $159,000. Lamonby said: “I loved getting into character, donning a snazzy suit, applying fake tan and banging down the gavel.”
