The fact that the NAMM Show is 109 years young and located in California during January means that the global MI village doesn’t even consider whether it should attend or not – it remains simply the archetypal ‘go to’ show. This year’s show will be more packed with events and ‘university’ sessions than ever before – and with a heft of the US association’s weight leaning towards the pro audio sector, as NAMM aims to up its profile in that arena. MI and ‘doing the biz’ still remain the very

is an incomplete and almost arbitrary run through of the information that is currently available to us as we go to press in the middle of December, but make no mistake, these are all booths that will no doubt compel and delight the trade crowds enjoying the Californian winter sun…
ASHDOWN: HALL C 4778 Kicking off with a top UK brand, Ashdown (along with sister companies Hayden and
Rock House bigs it up on its new global distributor’s stand – Hal Leonard
Bass supremo Tony Levin will be in Loud’s demo room
Lodestone) has a huge selection of new gear on its (always eye-catching) stand. Starting with the bass gear, a limited edition JJ Burnell head is being introduced, packing 575 Watts and sporting a class 12-band graphic eq. Also of note is the swathe of gear in the VS and Touring series – no fewer than 11 new products here – including the 330 Touring combo with four ten-inch speakers. A real beaut it must be said. For the six-stringers, Hayden has 11 new
products in total, including five in the Mofo series and another six for the HGTs. For the Mofos, a new Classic head catches the eye at 40 Watts and ships with a footswitch, for an estimated retail price of £429. The HGT series has a new 20-Watt amp, available as both a head and a combo, again with retail process to impress (£399 for the head and £429 for the combo).
Lodestone also continues its bid to break into the entry-level guitar market with a new range of guitars based on classic body designs.
