5 Avid Pro Tools 9


THEY SAY: DAW software now opened up to third-party hardware, or no hardware at all. SPECIFICATIONS: Pro Tools Version 9 software can be used with Avid audio interfaces, third-party hardware, or no hardware when using the built-in audio capabilities of a Mac or PC. New support is also available for the Avid EUCON open Ethernet protocol and expands control surface options to include Avid’s Artist series and Pro series audio consoles and controllers. New features include Automatic Delay Compensation, more audio tracks and busses with support for 96 mono or stereo voices in the new software-only version of Pro Tools (192 voices with Pro Tools HD systems), 256 internal busses, and 160 aux tracks.


MP3 export, built-in Time Code Ruler, updated 7.1 surround panner and a new variable stereo pan depths are also featured in the Version 9. > avid.com

BeesNeez Elly condenser mic


THEY SAY: Rich and warm rounded tone optimised for vocal applications due to a fixed cardiod pattern. SPECIFICATIONS: Elly is a large diaphragm condenser phantom powered, transformer balanced, fet mic optimised for the low voltage bias version of BeesNeez’s K7 capsule. The head grill is bronze with brass mesh that is then nickel plated with a bright nickel finish. The body tube is 1.5mm thick chrome molly tubing with a solid brass base.


The K7 capsule has an almost linear

Trident Series 82 console


THEY SAY: Series 82 sets a new standard at that time by offering an extremely musical audio path in a simple to use console layout. SPECIFICATIONS: Series 82 is a 24-bus all-modular desk featuring an updated Series 80B eq with four overlapping sweepable bands with the high and low bands being peak or shelving switchable, high-mid and low-mid bands with switchable Q and a high-pass filter sweepable from 30 to 500Hz. A split/inline design provides inline monitor returns on the dual-input main module and a paralleled 24-channel split monitor section, which adds 24 extra inputs on mixdown. All monitor returns, split and inline, feature high (12kHz, +/- 15dB) and low (80Hz, +/- 15dB) fixed-frequency shelving eq filters, as well as a sweepable Mid-band. Lectrosonics mute switch


THEY SAY: Pop-free audio muting for the company’s belt-pack transmitters. SPECIFICATIONS: Mute switch is designed for use with the company’s belt-pack transmitters. It is a belt-mount unit with an active device that is powered by any five-pin Lectrosonics transmitter. It works with most two and three-wire lavaliere microphones wired according to Lectrosonics guidelines. It uses an optically coupled switch to silence the audio signal without any clicks and pops, even when located in a strong RF field. The unit’s toggle switch is weather resistant and the included cable has weather resistant vinyl boots at each end.
