The organisers of the NAMM show continue to ramp up the show’s pro audio presence. Andrew Low looks at what the show has to offer for those in the know…


f you are reading this you are either at the 2011 NAMM show or wishing you were. Held annually at the Anaheim Convention Center, California – this year from January 13th to 16th – NAMM is the MI, and now, pro audio industries’ most exciting US show for new products, services, networking, and a great way to beat the post-Christmas blues. The good weather, pool side meetings, celebrity appearances and the positive attitude that most have going into the new year makes NAMM a great venue for pro audio enthusiasts. As stated last month, NAMM is working hard to bolster the pro audio side of the show by adding new features that have attracted manufacturers and punters alike. Hot Zone 2010 is held in association with Berklee Music, Worship Musician, USC `and SPARS among others. Sessions will include the following topics: Advanced Live Mixing, Music, Record, Roll!, Independent Engineers’ Panel discussion, DJ Equipment Integration, A Guide to Shopping for Recording and Production Service, Adding Realism to Sampled Instruments, Worship Leader Marketing 101-Social Media, PR, Advertising & Promotion, Tech Team, Praise Team, One Team, Educating the Music Professionals of Tomorrow, Making a Living in


Unusual Creative Audio, and New Rules. There is also a session focusing on audio for gaming titled Rethinking Audio from a Gaming Perspective. The TEC Awards move from the AES show to NAMM is also another indicator of the organisers dedication to this industry. The ceremony will take place on Friday, January 14th, 2011. The TEC Awards is the world’s most prominent awards show honouring outstanding achievement in professional audio production and product innovation. A full list of categories is listed on page 15; however, TEC has confirmed that singer/songwriter, and multi- instrumentalist and producer Lindsey Buckingham will receive the Les Paul Award. > namm.org/thenammshow/2011
