Trident unveils the Series 80 console at AES
TRIDENT’S UNVEILING of the new Series 82 console at AES in San Francisco peeked the interest of recording engineers the world over. The 82 is the latest addition to the UK
manufacturer’s re-established Series 80 Trident range, which followed the launch of the A-range and Series 80B dual channel modules released early in 2010.
The Series 80 console range originally began
in 1980 and received much acclaim, offering what was widely considered to be a very musical audio path, which was combined with a simple console layout. The new board was designed by Malcolm
Toft, who chose eq frequency centres and curves by ear, using his experience as an accomplished recording engineer at Trident Recording
Studios in London. >

Digico releases the SD9 digital consoel at PL+S 2010
UK CONSOLE manufacturer, Digico’s release of the compact SD9 console at ProLight+Sound 2010 created a buzz on the show floor and in the virtual landscape. Digico entered another new area of the market with the launch of the SD9 digital. Nicknamed the ‘Red Snapper’, the crimson framed board is said to comprise many of the features that have made Digico a leader in the live mixing market in a smaller format, with a price tag that people outside of the arena touring and the mega church markets can afford. The SD9 is a compact console, which includes the mixing surface, a D-Rack digital stage interface and Cat 5e digital multicore, with the additional ability to simultaneously record 56 channels direct to multitrack software
or DAW. >

ALLEN & HEATHreleased the iDR-16 MixRack and the iLive-R72 rackmountable Control Surface just in time for 2010’s NAMM and ISE. Allen & Heath’s MD, Glenn Rogers stated:
“This latest incarnation of the iLive digital series is truly a breakthrough. We’ve packaged the same iLive technology in an ultra compact rackmount solution. It’s incredible to think that you can easily walk into a gig with the system under your arms and your settings on a USB key in your pocket, and run a 64 into 32 mix with full processing from a small rack mountable surface at FOH, with the mixer on stage. The iDR-16 and iLive-R72 connect using Allen & Heath’s proprietary ACE (Audio Control Ethernet) link, which allows long distance point to point control and audio communication over a single Cat 5 cable up to 120m in length. The fixed I/O iDR-16 MixRack features 16 mic/line inputs and eight XLR outputs in a 3U frame, with a further 8in/8out available locally at the iLive-R72 surface. The compact iLive-R72 features 12 faders in two banks and six layers, providing a total of 72 colour
assignable channel ID control strips. >
