GENSET LAUNCHES MHM PLANT

After a relatively quiet period, judged on his outstanding contribution to the hire industry over 30 years, Josh Llewellyn, joint founder and Chairman of GenSet UK Ltd, the Port Talbot-based importer and distributor of GenSet generators and welder generators, is establishing a new venture trading as MHM Plant Ltd. According to Josh, “in addition to re-branding GenSet UK Ltd, which continues to offer its ranges of new equipment, MHM Plant will specialise in supplying used generators, petrol and diesel welders and TowerLight lighting towers. “MHM will also buy used GenSet equipment and add this kit to its own portfolio. MHM will in addition offer to buy other equivalent generators and welder models from any manufacturer, as well as TowerLight lighting towers. On any machine we sell, we will give a guaranteed buy-back price, based on the age of that equipment. We also offer a refurbishment and repair service, and are currently working on a large number of machines, both lighting towers and generators, for two national hirers. “Furthermore, we will buy any hirers’ used equipment and, having booked our stand at next February’s Executive Hire Show, we hope that hirers will visit our stand with their lists of equipment for us to buy, thus allowing them to re-invest in other new products that are being displayed at the exhibition.

Grimsby

based S & H Plant Hire has taken delivery

of the first two Volvo EC18Cs to be sold in Great Britain. This model is one of four machines ranging between 1.5 and 2 tonne that were launched earlier in the year at Bauma, and is a direct replacement for the EC15B XTV model. Powered by a 16.8hp engine, it has two-speed travel and an extendable undercarriage as standard. The two machines supplied to S & H Plant Hire have been fitted with canopies, although cab versions are also available. Co-director Andy Hyde commented that “access to all service points is excellent and the design of the hydraulic system, including the top-mounted boom cylinder, is a definite plus to minimise on-site damage.”

one time. Typically, this would include 100 TowerLight VT1s and 50 other makes of lighting tower. Our stock is all price-pointed, ranging from lighting towers from under £2,000 to nearly new VT1s at just under £5,000. Over 90% of our stock is in Port Talbot to view now and we also have generators from 200-2000Kva based in Scotland. Our stock list is e-mailed weekly to our customer database, which is continuously expanding.

“Our aim for MHM Plant is to be known as the company that hirers go to get used generators, welders and lighting towers of all shapes, sizes and ages. No other such business exists in the UK, or overseas to the best of our knowledge.” As a secondary activity, MHM Plant will also distribute two new ranges of equipment, comprising TowerLight’s Gladiator range of compact dumpers, as well as Mase generators. News of the latest GenSet UK Ltd developments is included in our Temporary Power Market Report, beginning on page 31.

TP Hire cycles for charity

Staff from TP Hire cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End last month in an initiative called the TP Life Cycle, to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK. “There were six of us from TP Hire in the team,” said Group Hire Director, Richard Dey, “plus two people from Birchwood Price Tools, along with three backup staff who manned our support bus. “We all met up at Inverness Airport on Monday 7th, and set off from John O’Groats at 4am the next day. We were grouped in pairs, each one cycling a stage of the route while the others rested or slept in the bus. We reached Land’s End at 4pm on Friday 11th. “All eight of us were in training since March for the event, which was tough and very demanding, but there was a great team spirit amongst us. We should raise more than £35,000 in total.”
