MONONOKO LAUNCH PARTY
On 6th August WorkLife Magazine joined an array of fashionistas for the Mononoko Launch at The General Store, Deansgate, in Manchester.
The evening saw Mary Ononokpono host a party to celebrate the launch her brand Mononoko going into the General Store… Recently shown at London Fashion Week for S/S 10, Mononoko is a self confessed ‘pro-Green’ ethical fashion label, born out of the need for fair and greater transparency, within the apparel industry. From African prints to oriental influences and Greek subtlety, Mary’s designs are uniquely fused together through print, texture and embellishment.
Mary showcased key pieces of her collection on live models. Backstage she prepped the models, giving their outfits some last minute pins and tucks and the girls from Urban Decay leant their expert skills to perfecting the models make-up, whilst DJ dialogue entertained the guests with his mix of electric beats and soulful sounds.
Mary’s future plans are to expand her main line collection she will also be introducing UNPLUGGED, a diffusion range solely specialising in sustainable jersey pieces, designed in collaboration with some of Manchester finest illustrators and MCs.
