comments: “This new programme contains a stunning range of tours that give a superb balance of wildlife and cultural experiences. “We have seen a phenomenal increase in bookings for our tours that are centred around local culture or

wildlife so, with such an increase in demand, we decided that a dedicated Wildlife & Culture brochure would really benefit our customers and make it easier for agents to sell our best selling product in this area.” www.pageandmoy.com

Seychelles goes for quality The Seychelles is to introduce a new

quality assurance label which will be issued annually to tourism establishments and services that guarantee 'Seychelles Tourism Assurance' by the Seychelles Tourism Board. The islands’ president, James Michel,

has also announced that the historical site, the Tourism & Cultural Village known as Domaine de Val des Prés, will come under Tourism Board management. “We will streamline our policies in the management, conservation and promotion of our national heritage.

“We can no longer go out there in the

global village with only our sun, sea and sand tags. The Seychelles brand goes beyond the physical beauty of our islands. It is the bridge that brings Seychellois social cohesion, arts, history and culture closer to other civilizations,” said President Michel, who has the portfolio responsibility for tourism. President Michel said that the essence

of the Seychelles Brand is the Seychellois identity, charm and hospitality as well as the serenity and stability the country enjoys. www.seychelles.com

More Sustainable World.... Have you ever seen a blue whale or a great white shark? The common response to that question is “I wish” – so if you’re one of those people who haven’t, take a peek at the Academy’s live Farallones webcam; located on a group of rocky islands 28 miles off the coast of San Francisco. This is an excellent example of conducting research in a sustainable manner. The Academy, in collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, teamed up to launch a live webcam, which sits atop a lighthouse, and is used to observe breeding birds, seal and sea lion colonies, ocean conditions and the off-shore activity of whales and, possibly, great white sharks! The goal is to collect valuable

scientific data with minimal wildlife disturbance and environmental impact. Researchers and wildlife managers can remotely control the camera to view whatever interests them and, at the same time, give the general public the opportunity to explore the islands remotely.

Connecting research back to the museum floor the islands can also be found within the Academy’s Aquarium with an impressive floor-to-ceiling view into a 100,000-gallon California Coast tank revealing a rocky habitat filled with marine life from the Farallones. Before I sign off this month; here’s the

link so you too can peer into the secret lives of whales, sharks, seals and exotic birds with the Academy’s coolest webcam – WARNING: it can become addictive!
