with a fleet of 220 aircraft and a further 200 on order. “As the industry consolidates we cannot stand still,” says Enrique Cueto, LAN's chief executive officer. in a different destination and, after sampling the Lake District of Chile last year, we are looking forward to returning to Peru and exploring its jungles, culture, cities and gastronomy. LATA will give its annual seminar to delegates at the show, focusing on trends and statistics in the market, as well as feedback from tourist boards and the UK media and trade. A recent forum we held for Latin American tourist boards confirmed that business to the region is on the up, with lots of high revenue potential for agents, as Brits generally travel for two to three weeks and spend more per head, per day than other nationalities. With some exciting new routes coming on line, including BA to Cancun and Iberia to Cordoba, plus the prospect of a merger between LAN and TAM, there has never been a better time to be selling Latin America. We’re working on a series of destination events, including Patagonia, Antarctica, Mexico and Panama, as well as planning a repeat of the popular LATA / Selling Long Haul quiz for agents after WTM – watch this space!
