THE FINAL FANTASY series has established itself as one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time. In addition to the 13 games released since its birth in 1987 – which have sold 97 million units worldwide – there are also spin-offs, figures, jewellery, comics, a star on the Walk of Fame, seven Guinness World Records and even a feature film that was deemed ‘The first citizen of the new world of cyberfilm’. managed to exceed two million active characters online, the latest instalment in the series is returning to the MMO format in an attempt to recreate the same level of success.
