Northern Century Race August 27-28


The Northern Century is a


100-mile distance race from Anacortes to Pt. Roberts, then around Stuart Island to Hein Bank and back to Anacortes. It consists of two divisions - double- handed and fully crewed. This race has a well deserved reputation as being one of the toughest events. For information or to register online,

Dinghy Sailing in Tacoma The Corinthian Yacht Club of


Tacoma (CYCT) will have dinghy sailing on each Friday evening in July through the end of September. Sailing is open to Juniors eight and older and adults with some sailing experience. You can use one of CYCT’s Lasers or Optimists or bring your own. Cost is $10 per evening and is free to CYCT and Seaport members. Juniors 18 and under require completion of a registration package and parental approval. Friday Nights in August are about to


get hotter. This is a free, fun event for all sailors. Bring your friends, your business associates, kids and kid’s friends for a fun filled evening on the water and socializing at the Corinthian Yacht Club. After a fun race/sail, everyone is invited to the Plaza at the head of I dock & the Shilshole Marina building. Fridays in August: 6, 13, 30, 27,


starting at 6:30 pm. Starts off the north entrance to Shilshole Bay Marina. Presented by: Shilshole Bay Marina Group; Sail Northwest, Seattle Sailing Club, Admiralty Yacht Sales, SAS, Windworks Sailing Center, CYC Seattle, Port of Seattle, 48° North and NMTA. The racing is designed for everyone


to come out and sail for fun. No ratings, just show up for a sail. There will be three starts: fast boats, not as fast boats and dinghies. First start is at 1835 hours and subsequent starts at 1840 & 1845. Only three rules: 1) Have Fun,

STYC Single Handed August 14


In keeping with a proud and long


held tradition, the Sloop Tavern Yacht Club will once again be holding this single-handed race, open to all those who fancy themselves mighty enough to guide their craft alone, around a course designed to test both sailing skills and endurance. This race is open to STYC members


and non-members. Entries must be received at the Sloop Tavern or on the website, no later than 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11. Late entries will be subject to an additional fee. This is a NFS race. Entry forms are available at www.styc.org For more info, go to www.styc.org


PITCH September 4-5 PITCH 2010, hosted by Bellingham

from last year, so this year’s raffle will be as much fun as ever and offers great pre and post race services…discount ‘Hang and Wash’ and camping from Seaview North, free moorage and launches for boats and trailers from Port of Bellingham, and a ton of other good stuff from the rest of the sponsors. Saturday night full on BBQ from


Windows on the Bay and no-cover dance music from Gertrude’s Hearse. Oh, and don’t forget the free burgers and beer at the Friday skipper’s meeting compliments of the Dead Pirate’s Society, and free Saturday night beer from Coast Aluminum and Architecture and Northwest Rigging/Anacortes Brewery.
