At Seattle’s 32nd annual Lake Union


Boats Afloat Show, you’ll see hundreds of boats the way they were meant to be seen – on the water! From cabin cruisers, from sailboats to hundred-foot mega-yachts and everything in between - Boats Afloat has it all! More than 50 distinct brands of


yachts including Ocean Alexander, Selene, Westport, Bayliner, Kadey Krogen, Sunseeker, American Tug, Regal, Hallberg-Rassy, Jeanneau, J-Boat, Hunter, Catalina and more. More than 50 brokers and dealers


from Washington, Oregon, California, Florida and British Columbia, Canada will display their yachts. Some 30 shore side exhibitors with professional services from marine finance and insurance to yacht linens and yacht maintenance will exhibit at the show. The 64-foot sailing vessel OceanWatch


just returned from a 25,000 mile, one- year circumnavigation of the American continents with the mission of inspiring, educating and engaging the citizens of the Americas to protect our fragile oceans, wil be at the dock. The Pacific Science Center – a partner in the expedition - will be on deck to demonstrate how to build a marine ecosystem and food web. Fun for kids and adults alike. Try your hand at checking water quality with the remote control Sea Perch boat or learn how to use satellite data to observe cloud cover. The Lake Union Boats Afloat Show


runs from Wednesday, September 15th to Sunday, September 19th, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm daily at South Lake Union in Seattle. Tickets are $12 for adults/ $5 for kids under 18 (kids under 12 are free) or $18 for a multi-day pass. Receive a free ride on the Seattle

The Metal Boat Festival August 20, 21, & 22


The Metal Boat Festival will be held


on the waterfront of Port Angeles. This year’s Festival is co-sponsored by the Port of Port Angeles & Platypus Marine, Inc. Central Welding, BoatU.S., Sherwin- Williams, Harbor Marine & 48° North are just a few of the other companies who will also help to make this Festival more successful and fun than ever! This year’s Festival will again be


covering a varied mix of topics during information-packed learning sessions. These sessions will be held at the Landing Mall’s upper meeting room starting at 8:00 am Friday morning and concluding mid-afternoon on Sunday. Just some of what will be enjoyed during the three days is the Designers and Builders Forum and the Women’s Forum, the annual Friday evening dinner with keynote speaker, and the yearly boat walk. This year ’s Saturday evening seafood BBQ is sponsored by Platypus


Marine, Inc, and a new addition to the Festival will be to have a Boater’s Swap Meet on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00. Throughout the Festival there will be plenty of fun with free prizes, silent auctions and raffles – and a free Festival shirt with each paid registration. Some of our headliners are: John


Simpson (designer), John Baird (Surveyor) Justin Nichols (boat builder/designer), Kevin Todd (Sherwin-Williams), and Dan Kulin (PortTownsend Rigging). Some of the topics are: how to work with aluminum, electronics-what do you really need, paint & coatings, repairing & maintaining the metal boat, and an insurance/surveyors Q & A Panel. The Metal Boat Festival is open to
