SPEEDY NETWORKING IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The Middle East Parking Symposium – a BPA-supported event – will take place from 10-12 October at the Abu Dhabi National Expo Centre, UAE. It is the ideal platform for companies to meet new distributors and learn more about market requirements in the region. This year, the event is introducing a special Speed Networking session to help companies that are new to the market to meet potential new partners.

The three-day conference programme

will consist of an IPI-hosted technical stream, a Middle East focus stream and a technology stream. In addition, there will be two separate half-day workshop sessions including ‘An Introduction to Parking’.

The other workshop will focus on Municipal Parking Authorities and suggested

Tis year’s Facilities Show, which took place from 11-13 May at Birmingham’s NEC, welcomed the first Parking Zone hosted by the Approved Operator Scheme (AOS) and featured a number of AOS members from the broad spectrum of private car park management. Produced in

association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), the show has built on last year’s success where more than 19,000 industry professionals visited to see leading FM manufacturers, distributors and suppliers at the extensive exhibition. Scheme members

were delighted with the opportunity to exhibit under the banner of the BPA and AOS. A spokesperson

from G24 said: ‘We found the show to be a resounding success. Our sales team found the environment a great place to meet and speak to key people within the industry. Being part of the Parking Zone was a massive benefit to our company and we look forward to the next event.’ UKPC added:

‘Having exhibited at Te Facilities Show for a number of years now, we were pleased with the idea of having a Parking Zone where attendees could visit to discuss all their parking requirements at a ‘one stop shop’. Te show was extremely successful for us, and interest in the Zone was very high. We were able to meet key decision- makers from leading UK organisations and generate a number of quality leads.’

Since exhibiting at

the Facilities Show in 2009, membership of the AOS has grown by 40 per cent and overall awareness has increased dramatically. Tis is due in part to a promotional campaign highlighting the issue of rogue ‘cowboy clampers’, which the media have delighted in focusing on. Richard Hilton, acting head of the AOS and Stuart Harrison of UKPC, reinforced this message by opening the Seminar Teatre sessions on Day One at the show with a presentation entitled ‘Te Cowboys are Facing Teir Alamo’. Next year’s event,

including the Parking Zone, takes place at the same venue between 17 and 19 May. For more information email dave.s@ britishparking.co.uk or call 01444 447 316.
