I use the same technique to create flames on the other parts of the bike where called for. When the flames are finished I spray over all the parts two coats of sunset candy from Auto-air in order to increase the orange and yellow colour under the sun. The white flames become sunset colour and are now fully included in the background colour. After allowing time for the paint to dry I remove all of the masking.

To do the Harley Davidson logo design I cut two stencils out of a masking material called Oramask. One set of stencils for the let- ters the second for the background area. I place the background stencil in place and use the same colour as I used on the stripe. After allowing time for the background to dry I postion the letter stencils which I spray white, orange followed by sunset candy.

Here is the tank finished you can see the good bal- ance between the tank colour and the logo, between the flames and the letters. I’ve done this to keep the temperate over all look asked for by the customers.

I clear it with 3 coats of polyurethane clear. After drying I sand all the parts with P1500 wet grit sandpaper followed by sanding it with a Trizact pad, buffed with Finesse It from 3M until I get a perfect shinny surface.
