Charging more in current market
As the electric car industry continues to grow, parking solutions firm Zeag has launched its integrated solution for electric car charging and parking. Te eZEcharge
system does away with the need for two separate payments for parking and charging, making for a more convenient parking experience for electric car drivers. Te system, which will be available to
car park owners and operators worldwide, accepts all payment methods. According to Zeag,
eZEcharge should appeal in particular, to local authorities looking both to generate revenue and reduce carbon emissions. David Jones, chief
marketing officer of the Zeag Group, said: ‘Local authorities can use the system to expand their charging bays and encourage use
of electric vehicles by making it easier to park and charge.’ Jones continued:
‘On-street charging bays are becoming increasingly common, but they are not so easy to find in car parks. Te eZEcharge system will enable car park operators to offer a better, more convenient service to drivers of electric vehicles, benefiting driver, car park operator – and the environment.’
VERRUS SEES MILEAGE IN ROADCHEF CONTRACT

supplier, Verrus has been awarded the Roadchef contract, previously held by RingGo. The move is in partnership with car park operators, CP Plus.
This is the second five-year
contract between CP Plus and Verrus having already successfully mobilised 55 Moto service stations back in October 2009.
The contract will see 18 of the busiest service stations on the RoadChef circuit go live
this spring. A further nine sites will follow later in the year. Todd Sothcott from Verrus said: ‘the commitment of Verrus PayByPhone is clear when an already valuable partner, in this case CP Plus, feels it appropriate to
increase our portfolio with them. Business success in these challenging times is built on relationships and product strength. All the three companies involved have bought their own expertise to this project.’
Express service from RingGo
Train travellers from Penzance to Glasgow and Llandudno to Lowestoft will be able to use their mobile phones to pay for parking, as RingGo celebrates winning the contract to supply its parking payment system to four more train operators. Under a new
deal with car park operators NCP, RingGo will supply NCP-run car parks across the country with their cashless parking service. Tis includes 100 off-street car parks

owned by NCP, as well as a further 100
car parks managed by NCP for the four train operating companies: Arriva Trains, C2C, National Express East Anglia and Transpennine Express. Te switch
from the previous supplier, Fastpark, means that 11 separate train-operating companies across the UK will offer the RingGo service. Te pay-by- phone service involves one call
to register an account and then one call each time a car parking booking is made. RingGo now operates at more than 1,800 car parks across the UK. NCP commercial
director Jo Cooper commented: ‘Last October, we transferred the pay-by-phone service offered at First Capital Connect stations to RingGo. Since the transfer, calls to our call centre about phone parking have reduced dramatically and usage has risen significantly. We’ve now decided to offer the
service at the majority of the other sites we own or manage.’ Te transition
between the two systems is being carefully managed to minimise disruption. Motorists should look out for the boldly branded, new NCP signs on the machines, featuring the new RingGo number – 020 3046 0010. Te four digit location codes for each car park are also changing, with all now starting with a nine. Information will also be provided on the NCP website.
