(SSA) is pleased to announce the hosting of the J-24 District races in Sandpoint Idaho. The races will take place on Lake Pend Oreille, from the Windbag docks. The SSA has the J-24 Fleet #174. This is a premier sailing event where the boats are all equal, so it puts sailor against sailor. Sail Sand Point Spring Open
On March 15th, 150 sailors
spent Saturday on the waters of Lake Washington in Seattle. At 10:45, and the start of race 1A, the wind was out of the south at 6 knots with some bigger puffs. As the day progressed, the wind shifted to the southwest and built to a very puffy 10 knots with larger gusts. All courses were windward/leewards with 3 or 4 legs. No protests were filed and we were able to complete 6 races in each division before 4:00. High School sailors had the
opportunity to speak and sail with NW college teams. A big thank you to Portland State U, Univ. of Oregon, Univ. of Washington, and Western Washington Univ. for sailing the event and answering questions about your sailing programs for the future members. Thanks to Sail Sand Point for hosting
the event and putting on a great BBQ. Also, thank you to the volunteers who kept the racing moving: Nick Hubbard, Michelle Stitzer, Brendan Fahey, Ellie Wilson, and Alex Jones. All those sailors could not have
gotten on the water if it weren't for North Kitsap, Bainbridge, Orcas Island, Bellingham, and Portland State supplying some extra boats.
