Velvet Serenade by Michelle Mathews
1 Remove the clasp from a recycled sterling silver bracelet.
2 Cut a ¾” length of sterling silver small link chain. string a headpin with a small hessonite garnet bead or a red garnet bead and
make a wrapped loop, connecting it to a link on the chain. Repeat approximately ten times or until the desired look is achieved.
Connect the beaded chain to a 7mm closed jumpring.
3 Create a center ring using 20 gauge fine silver dead soft wire connecting it to the end of a sterling silver recycled bracelet and the
7mm closed jumpring from step 2. Wrap the ring tightly with 26 gauge fine sterling silver wire. Cut two lengths of 24 gauge fine
silver dead soft wire and using a torch, ball up the ends. Wrap the two wires decoratively around the ring.
4 Cut a length of beading wire and string a crimp tube and the 7mm closed jumpring on the center ring. Thread the wire back
through the crimp tube and crimp. string beads in the pattern shown or as desired until the required length is achieved. string a
crimp tube and a 7mm closed jumpring. Thread the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp. Trim excess wire. Repeat, adding
a second beaded strand to the necklace as shown.
5 Cut a length of 24 gauge silver wire and make a wrapped loop, connecting it to the jumpring at the end of the beaded strand. string
a faceted red garnet round and make a wrapped loop. Repeat two more times, connecting the first wrapped loop to the available
wrapped loop on the previous garnet link. Connect the last wrapped loop to half of a toggle clasp.
6 Repeat step 5, connecting the first wrapped loop to the other end of the recycled sterling silver bracelet and the last wrapped loop
to the other half of the clasp.
7 Cut a length of 22 gauge sterling silver dead soft wire and string a large ametrine focal bead. Bend the wires above the bead and
wrap one wire around the other. Trim the short wire. Make a large wrapped loop with the remaining wire, connecting it to the
center ring. Wrap the large wrapped loop with 26 gauge sterling silver dead soft wire and then continue wrapping the wire around
the top of the ametrine focal. string tiny hessonite garnet beads and red garnet beads onto the wire as you wrap the top of the
focal.
