The University Playing Fields at Weetwood are located 3 miles from the main
University campus. Covering an extensive area of 100 acres, the playing fields
are home to our excellent outdoor pitches.
3G Synthetic Turf Pitch
This fantastic full sized facility offers training opportunity for football, rugby and
other contact sports. The rubber crumb surface allows the use of studs on the
pitch and has proved to be a very popular facility. It is also available for small
football games as the pitch can be separated into 1/3 sized pitches.
Two Sand Dressed Synthetic Turf Hockey Pitches
The University has two performance hockey pitches (one sand dressed and one
Tiger Turf) providing high-class hockey facilities. The pitches are also available for
6 or 7-a-side football.
Cricket Squares
Supported by the ECB and the partnership of the Yorkshire Country Cricket Club
and the University Estates department, the cricket pitches are maintained to a 1st
class standard.
Grass Pitches
We have over 90 acres providing 15 football, 5 rugby (including the
outstanding rugby no.1 pitch), 1 lacrosse, 1 American football
and cricket and rounders pitches for the summer. We are now
in the third year of a four year programme of pitch renovation.
NEW THIS YEAR - Refurbished rugby pitch and two soccer
pitches, plus spectator fencing around soccer pitch 1.
Tennis Courts / 5-a-side football pitches
There are 6 small synthetic turf pitches, which are used for both tennis and
5-a-side football. These are floodlit and provide an all-year-round playing
opportunity.
