The UK is beginning the countdown to London hosting the Olympic & Paralympic
Games in 2012 and you can become part of the greatest show on earth through
the Olympic Programme at the University of Leeds.
What’s happening at University of Leeds?
• Athletes from Serbia and Holland will be coming to Leeds for pre-2012 training
camps with several other countries in the pipe-line to be confirmed. Athletes will
be using University of Leeds sports facilities and accommodation during these
camps.
• Lecture series featuring prominent Olympians and people from the world of
sport.
• Projects involving dance, art and poetry to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad.
• Active partner in Yorkshire Gold – the region’s engagement with London 2012.
How can you get involved?
• Learn more about the Olympics by taking the LEED 2012 module
• Volunteer to help and inspire children in the local community to increase
participation levels in sport through the Get Set 2012 education programme.
• Develop your skills in coaching through the nPower Community Scheme
• Support visiting international athletes attending pre-2012 Training Camps in Leeds
• Challenge yourself to write final year projects on the Olympics and its impact
across a range of subjects.
• Develop innovative technology that can impact on elite athlete performance
through UK Sport Ideas4Innovation.
• Create your own project that qualifies for London 2012 Inspire Mark
That is not all; our Olympic Development Officer is always available to discuss
any ideas you may have for projects and volunteering opportunities.
