LEEDS Gryphon Clubs
LEEDS Gryphons is a unique programme of sports support services and is
available to all Leeds University Union sports clubs whose main focus is BUCS and
contributing to the University’s top-10 BUCS ambitions.
A LEEDS Gryphon club creates an environment of sporting excellence for students
who wish to participate in high-level sport whilst studying at the University. Some
of the support services that will be available through the LEEDS Gryphons include
strength and conditioning, sports physiotherapy, sports massage, access to high-
performance coaching and athlete lifestyle advice.
Individual Sports Scholarships Programme:
The University offers a broad range of sports scholarships designed to support our
elite athletes continue to perform at the highest level whilst studying for a world-
class degree.
Sports Scholars are eligible for both financial and specialist support,
working closely with their Performance Manager through
their time at University. Benefits of the Sports Scholarships
Programme include:
• Free strength and conditioning coaching
• Free sports physiotherapy and massage
• Free access to University of Leeds sports facilities
• Year round lifestyle management support
CASE STUDY
University Cycling Club - Team of the Year 2008/2009
A Gryphon Sport for 2009/10, the club dominated the
BUCS 2008/09 Cycling calendar. Their committed
approach to the University strength and conditioning,
sports massage and physiotherapy services were integral in
their sporting success.
Key Achievements:
4 Team Gold Medals; 1 Team Silver Medal;
2 Individual Gold Medals (BUCS)
