Chamber wants to give you the business!

The Anza Valley Chamber of Commerce (AVCC) wants every business in Anza to participate in their 1 st Annual Business Expo on Saturday, February 25 th. Knowing that some owners must work, they are making a special offer for those who can’t attend the event by hosting a literature distribution area at their booth. For only $5, businesses can have their coupons and flyers passed out to the public at the AVCC’s booth! Where else can you get such a deal on advertising?
Building the local economy is the primary focus of the AVCC. The best way to do this is to encourage local spending, keeping local monies in Anza. Since proceeds raised at the event go back into the community to help with local business development, every dollar collected will help build a stronger local economy, both through the transactions conducted with the vendors at the Expo and through the booth and flyer fees allowing them to participate. Chamber members are always allowed to voice their opinions about how such funding is used. The Expo itself was a member suggestion, as were the monthly chamber ads published in the High Country Journal over the past year. So, why is an annual Business Expo so important?
“It’s expensive driving to surrounding communities to purchase items I can’t get in Anza,” Sandi Hughes, president for the chamber explains. “If I could get what I need from local vendors at reasonable prices I would certainly buy here instead. I’m sure other locals feel the same way.” Daryl Hosler, another local and the Anza Lions Club president concurs, “If someone needs a computer repairperson, for example, how do they find that service? I know they’re up here. Getting these businesses out in the open is a good idea. It’s got to be tried. The participation in an expo may be incremental, building up over time, but eventually this should be a big help to the people up here.”
