Anza Valley Artists welcome artist/teacher Carol Ravy
Painting with watercolors was the topic of the day when the Anza Valley Artists group welcomed Carol Ravy to its January meeting at the home of Rika Anctil.
Ravy demonstrated the technique of augmenting a watercolor painting with pen and ink to add detail to the work. She teaches painting in many local rural areas, as part of adult education programs sponsored by local community colleges. “I enjoy my students and I love teaching,” Ravy said. One of those students, Rex Harrison, credits Ravy with enabling him to relax on the canvas. “Carol taught me slop and drop,” he said. “I no longer try to be so controlled with the brush and that has improved my watercolors.”
Also at the meeting was Judy Coyle, aka “The Brush Lady,” who sells all types of paint brushes and pens. Coyle provided some of the products Ravy used in her demonstration. Twenty attendees were part of a drawing to win a Carol Ravy print. Angel Garcia was the lucky winner.
