AEC history on display!
By Steve Manseau
Historical memorabilia that documents the origins and early development of the Anza Electric Co-operative (AEC) is currently on display at the organization’s offices at 58470 Highway 371.
AEC Member Services Manager Kevin Short, working in concert with the Hamilton Museum, has assembled vintage pictures, newspaper articles and electrical equipment that harken back to
the1950s.That’s when the Co-op was formed and residents of the Anza Valley first enjoyed the convenience of electricity.
“The Hamilton Museum has been great about loaning us their collection of old photos and articles,” Short pointed out. “Many of these items came from the personal scrapbooks and photo albums of longtime Anza resident Barbara Bradford. It is absolutely wonderful that she documented all this early activity.” Bradford, who still resides in the Valley, is the author of a book on the Co-op entitled, Let There Be Light . She
